Grace Nellie (Bacon) Karcher

Grace N. Karcher, 92, of Zenda, WI passed away Thursday July 25th, 2013 at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva WI.  Grace N. Bacon was born to the late Sidney and Nellie (Ewer) Bacon on July 21st, 1921 in London, England.  Grace was married to Leslie A. Karcher on V.E. Day May 8th, 1945 in London England.  Grace came to the U.S. on February 8th, 1946 and arrived in Chicago on March 1st, 1946 on the Argentina and at that time the boat was nicknamed the “War Bride Boat”.  Grace loved to read, watch birds and garden with her husband.

2 sons survive Grace: Brian Karcher of Zenda, WI, and Dennis (Kelly) Karcher of Las Vegas, NV.  One grandchild Andrea also survives Grace.  Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Leslie A. Karcher.  Grace was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister: Brenda Smith.

Services for Grace will be Thursday, August 1st, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.  Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.  Memorials are to be made in Grace’s name to American Association of Cancer Research.  To sign the online guest registry please click view/sign condolence at the bottom of the page.
