George Hoelter

April 1, 1935 — September 4, 2023

George Henry Hoelter, a resident of Fontana, WI  born on April 1, 1935, in Chicago to Henry and Elizabeth Hoelter, nee Horsthemke. He passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2023 at his home at the age of 88.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Frances Hoelter, nee Schechtel, married on September 6, 1958, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Chicago.   Married for almost 65 years to his beloved wife Mary, they had a very special, a great partnership founded in love and mutual respect.  They raised three children in Park Ridge, IL: Elizabeth A. Sido (Daniel) of Naperville IL, Todd H. Hoelter (Marta) of Breckenridge, CO and Stephen J. Hoelter (Kath) of Arlington Heights, IL.  George was also the proud grandfather of Mark, Emily, Jake, Adam, Cameron, Syndey, and great grandfather of Langston.  George was preceded in death by his eldest grandson Bryan.

George was an accomplished, successful entrepreneur having started Spectra Tool Co, a Tool and Die manufacturer with his brother in 1973 , making numerous specialty and highly  precision molds.

George embraced life every day and enjoyed being the life of the party.  He was proud of his German heritage, an accomplished sailor, golfer, car-enthusiast, philosopher and want-to-be artist.  In his earlier years, he devoted his life to his family, parents, friends & developing a successful business.   He enjoyed traveling the globe and reading non-fiction books of historical events.

George was happy, upbeat, unique, ageless &  looked to make everyone he met laugh or smile. He was a child at heart especially with his grandchildren.  He saw the good in everyone he met and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

A memorial mass for friends and family will be held at St. Benedicts in Fontana WI on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at l 11:30 a.m. with a receiving line from 10-11:30.  Interment will be at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in River Grove, IL.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked that you donate in George's name to St. Judes.  A link has been provided below.
