"If it doesn't work OH WELL" - a quote by George Hach Jr.
With deep reverence and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we gather in memory of George John Hach Jr., whose journey began in Illinois on January 19, 1939, and reached its gentle conclusion in Janesville, Wisconsin, on July 6, 2026.
George leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were privileged to know him, but none more so than his beloved wife, Marylee, with whom he shared sixty remarkable years of steadfast partnership, and his cherished daughter, Dawn Macier. For his family, he was a steadfast anchor—always calm, never ruffled, a living testament to patience and devotion. Those closest to him will forever carry forward memories of a fantastic father and a wonderful husband, a man whose proudest accomplishment, unreservedly, was his family.
Gifted with a curious mind and a tireless work ethic, George first served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, instilling in him a sense of discipline and purpose that illuminated the rest of his days. His professional life was defined by thoughtful diligence; as a computer programmer, he embraced the challenges of a rapidly evolving world, leaving behind work that bore both his intellect and integrity.
George was not merely a man of vocation and service, but one of passion and pursuit. He authored a book—Why—which found its place in the world through the shelves of Amazon, a testament to his inquisitive spirit and drive to share insights. Ever an ardent lover of the outdoors, he sought and found joy beneath open skies, whether traversing the winding paths of the Kettle Moraine or exploring the living history of Old World Wisconsin. Museums beckoned to him as portals of discovery, feeding his insatiable appetite for learning.
But it was with his family that George’s joy was most complete. Together they embarked on endless journeys—short day trips and grand excursions alike, creating stories that now live on in the laughter and tears of recollection. Especially cherished is the memory of visiting five states in a single day, an adventurous feat emblematic of George’s boundless enthusiasm for life and togetherness.
His faith was a wellspring of strength and community. At Chapel on The Hill in Lake Geneva, he found spiritual home, serving faithfully as a deacon and embodying humility, kindness, and service. Those who worshipped alongside him knew him as a gentle leader, a steadfast friend, and a man whose grace radiated in quiet, consistent care for others.
To encapsulate George Hach Jr.’s life is to tell a story of unwavering gentleness and humble impact—a man for whom nothing ever seemed to ignite anger, only understanding and warmth. His legacy is measured not in accolades or grand gestures, but in the patient, daily devotion to those he loved and the serene wisdom he imparted.
Family, friends, and all whose lives intersected with George’s uplifting presence are invited to pay their respects and celebrate his memory during visitation at Derrick Funeral Home & Cremation Services, P. O. Box 730 - 800 Park Dr, Lake Geneva, WI 53147, on July 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at noon at the same location, with military honors beginning at 12:00 p.m. in solemn tribute to his service.
May the story of George John Hach Jr. continue to inspire, comfort, and remind us of the profound impact of a life lived with dignity, quiet strength, and enduring love.
