Georgann Allen Johnson

June 8, 1934 — December 30, 2024

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Rockford, Illinois

Georgann Allen Johnson, 90, of Lake Geneva, WI and Rockford, IL, passed away December 30, 2024 in Lake Geneva.

She was born in Lake Geneva on June 8, 1934, the daughter of Gretchen and George Allen. She was the wife of the late William Johnson and mother of David Johnson (fiancé Tomara Bradley) of Belvidere, IL, Julia (Mark) Kiehl of St. Louis, MO and Cynthia (Tom) Troia of Rockford, IL. She was the grandmother of James (Laura) Johnson, Jeffrey (Grace) Johnson, Andrew (Sarah) Kiehl, Kelly (Andy) Davis, Allyson (Mladen) Ubiparipovic and William (fiancé Ashley Jihlavec) Troia. She was the great-grandmother of Robin and Charlotte Johnson, Hollyn Johnson, Esther and Rebecca Kiehl, Taylor Davis and Djordje Ubiparipovic.

Georgann (G.G.) graduated from Lake Geneva High School in 1952 and Beloit College with a BA in 1956. At Beloit College she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. G.G. married on July 21, 1956 in Lake Geneva at the First Congregational Church. She and Bill later became a member of Spring Creek Congregational Church in Rockford and most recently she attended WestminsterPresbyterian Church in Rockford.

G.G. was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi alumni group in Rockford as well as an Emeritus member of the Junior League of Rockford. She was a member of Chapter CJ of PEO and DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), University Club of Rockford and a 50 year member of Forest Hills Country Club. She was also a Director on the board of Forgings & Stampings, Inc.

G.G. was a true Renaissance woman. She was a grand entertainer, an avid reader, an historian, genealogist, and card player. She was a patron of strong coffee, a world traveler, a tourist of presidential libraries, and a philanthropist. G.G. was also an author: she spent many hours composing notes to family and friends, and she leaves a piece of her with us in these letters. First and foremost, though, G.G. was a steadfast pillar of her family. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she took to each role with the same unshakeable love and generosity. Each of the family members she leaves behind is a testament to her enduring love.
