Franklin C. Karcher, 88, a lifelong resident of Linn Township, died Monday February 6, 2012 at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, in Burlington, WI. Franklin Charles Karcher was born in Linn Township on May 20, 1923 the son of the late Frank and Grace (Rasmussen) Karcher. He graduated from Lake Geneva High School in 1941. On September 10, 1949 in Zenda, WI he was united in marriage to the former Hilda Bailey. He had worked as a lineman for the Wisconsin Power and Light Company of over 40 years and at the time of his retirement he was a line foreman..
Frank was a member of the Linn Township Fire Department. He was a former member and past President of the Linn Farmers Club. He was a talented gardener. He also was an avid fan of Wisconsin sports, including the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and the University of Wisconsin Badgers.
He is survived by: Hilda, his wife of 62 years, 2 daughters; Susan (James Mullen) Karcher of West Lafayette, IN and Barbara Karcher of Lake Geneva, WI, 3 grandchildren; Matthew Gelvin,
Brandon Gelvin and Sarah Gelvin, and a brother George (Helen) Karcher of Burlington, WI. He was preceded in death a sister Edna Klinpke ands 3 brothers Conrad, Walter and Leslie Karcher
Services will be held on Monday February 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Derrick Funeral Home, 800 Park Dr., Lake Geneva, WI; Pastor Mark Moller-Gunderson of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Cobblestone Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Frank’s name to: Linn Fire Department.
