Frances M. Minahan, 97, a lifelong resident of Lake Geneva, died Monday December 15, 2014 at Geneva Lake Manor Nursing Home. Frances Mary Minahan was born in Lake Geneva, WI on November 16, 1917 the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (O’Brien) Minahan. She graduated from Lake Geneva high School in 1935; she then attended Mundelein College in Chicago, IL for two years. She worked as a clerk in the accounting department of Wisconsin Power and Light Company for 44 years retiring on April 1, 1983.
Frances was a lifelong member of Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva. She was treasurer of the Wisconsin Power and Light Company credit union for 12 years. She was the Recording Secretary for the Lake Geneva Industrial Development Corporation for 16 years. She was Secretary for the Geneva Lake Development Corporation for 8 years. She had helped her mother and father operate a riding academy for many years. The property owned by her parents on the triangle of Sheridan Springs Road and Highway 36 (Interchange North) was the site of the first development corporation. Minahan Road was named after her family. She was a member of the Pioneer Club of the Wisconsin Power and Light Company and a member of Tau Kappa Rho. She helped organize the Wisconsin Power and Light retirees group in Lake Geneva.
Frances is survived by cousins Colleen Alexander and John Minehan and by many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother John Steven.
Mass of Christian Burial will said on Thursday December 18, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva; Father Jim Scheurman will officiate. Burial will follow in Saint Francis deSales Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, in church, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
