Evelynne "Evie" (Reichardt) Walter

Evelynne Walter, 86, of Pell Lake Wisconsin passed away at her home on September 25th, 2015.

Evelynne “Evie” Walter was born on December 7th, 1928 to the late Wilmer and Mary Louise Reichardt in Walnut Illinois.  Evie was a member of the graduating class of 1946 from Woodstock High School.  Evie was employed at Woodstock Hospital from 1946 to 1950 as a nursing assistant.  The job at Woodstock Hospital stated Evie’s lifelong career in caretaking.  On April 29th, 1950 Evie was united into marriage to the late Robert I. Walter.  Robert and Evie raised two children, Debra Lynn and David Lee and relocated to McHenry Illinois.  After they moved to McHenry, Evie was employed at McHenry Medical Group in a physician’s office as a medical assistant for 10 years.

In 1966 Evie decided it was time to go back to school and enrolled at Elgin Community College to get her associates degree in the nursing program.  Evie graduated in 1968.  After graduating Evie was employed at McHenry Hospital, better known as Northern Illinois Medical Center and now as Centegra from 1968 till 1999.  After she left the hospital she started being the caretaker within her family.

Evie is survived by 1 child Debra (Ron) Rice of McHenry Illinois.  3 grandchildren: Michael Walter of Johnsburg, Illinois, Reannin Walter of Sharon, Wisconsin, and Kathryn Colwell of West Bend, Wisconsin all survive Evie.  6 great-grandchildren survive Evie: Shelby and Jordan Patton of Antioch, Illinois, Faith and Andrew Sanders of Pell Lake, Wisconsin, Callie Walter of Johnsburg, Illinois, and Isaac Colwell of West Bend, Wisconsin. 2 sisters: Enid Crossman of Woodstock, Illinois and Doris (Bill) Warn of McHenry, Illinois and 1 brother, Myron “Mike” (Jean) Reichardt of Woodstock, Illinois all survive Evie.  Evie is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many, many dear lifelong friends.

Evie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Robert on June 14th, 2008. Her son David, granddaughter Jennifer and brother Tom also preceded Evie in death.

A celebration of Evie’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Genoa City, WI date and time have not been set yet.  Please check back later in the week for updated details.
