Elizabeth J. Nielsen, 91, of Lake Geneva, WI, died Tuesday April 8, 2014 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn, WI. The former Elizabeth Jane Rawson was born on August 9, 1922 in Syracuse NY the daughter of the late Chester and Loretta Rawson. She graduated from Little Cedar High School in Little Cedar, IA in 1940. On May 7, 1943 in Biloxi, MS she was united in marriage to Ivan D. Nielsen; he preceded her in death on July 9, 1992. Following her husband’s retirement, while living in Texas, she tutored English as a second language to Hispanic children. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva and counted the collection money following Sunday services.
Elizabeth is survived by: 2 children; Janet (Kirby) Gronbeck of Ankeny, IA and Michael (Vickie) Nielsen of Lake Geneva, WI, 7 grandchildren; Matthew, Tim, Raechelle, Eson, Chad, Holly and Starla, 2 sisters; Joyce (Ken) Knott of Culver City, CA, and Doris Georisch of Simi Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by; 2 brothers Don and Chester and 3 sisters Irene, Darlene and Laverna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday April 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva; Father Jim Scheurman will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, in church, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Elizabeth’s name to: Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
