Elizabeth Dorothy Platz Happ of Lake Geneva, WI passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Golden Years of Walworth, WI. Elizabeth was born on August 24, 1918 to the late Paul and Mary Platz, of Morton Grove IL. She was a 1937 graduate of the Mallinchrodt High School, Wilmette, IL. Elizabeth was united in marriage to the late George M. Happ in Skokie, IL. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1971.
Elizabeth was a member of the Zenda Garden Club, Linn Neighborly Club, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Elizabeth was a founding member of the Women’s Club of Morton Grove and an Honorary member of the Lake Geneva Yacht Club. She was an excellent bridge player, having won numerous tournaments. Elizabeth was renowned for her love of cats.
Elizabeth is survived by 5 children: Elizabeth (Rudolph) Boeckeler of Grafton, WI, Lawrence (Kelley) Happ of Mundelein, IL; Richard (Nancy) Happ of New Bern, NC; James (Janet) Happ of Lake Geneva, WI; and Barbara (Gene) Habrel of Lake Geneva, WI. 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren survive Elizabeth. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Platz, and son Kenneth Happ of Akron Ohio.
There was a mass of Christian burial Monday March 18th,2013 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva, WI. Father James Scheurman will be presiding. Visitation was from 10 am till the time of service at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has requested donations in Elizabeth’s name to St. Coletta of Wisconsin charity.
