Elaine Marie O'Shaughnessy

Sep 5, 1947 — Jul 4, 2026

Delavan, Wisconsin

Elaine Marie O'Shaughnessy, née Rivet, born on September 5, 1947 in Massachusetts, departed this world peacefully on July 4, 2026 in Wisconsin. Her life, spanning seventy-eight years, was defined by warmth, compassion and a deep commitment to caring for others.

Elaine’s journey began in Northbridge, Massachusetts, where she grew up embraced by the love of family and community. These roots instilled in her a gentle yet resolute character that would become her guiding light throughout her life. In her professional years, Elaine answered a true calling by working as a registered nurse, first in Pediatrics and later in Special Procedures -- a career that highlighted her dedication to service and her innate ability to provide comfort to those in need. Her patients, colleagues and friends all remember her for the empathy in her eyes and the reassurance in her presence.

Family was the cornerstone of Elaine’s existence. Her beloved husband Joseph Davis O'Shaughnessy Jr. predeceased her in December 2025, and their partnership was a testament to love and devotion. The memory of their 45 years together remains an enduring source of solace and inspiration to those who knew them both.

Elaine’s legacy lives on through her cherished children and grandchildren. Her daughter Heather Spaulding and grandson Jacob, and her son and daughter-in-law Todd and Heather Clark and granddaughters Ellie and Jillian, survive her and carry forward her spirit of nurturing and kindness.

Elaine’s home was a haven for her family, filled with shared laughter and gentle encouragement. Many happy memories included her extended family visiting from Massachusetts. She is also survived by her siblings Diane Holt and John Rivet, and cousin Rosemary Voss.

Beyond her vocation and familial devotion, Elaine’s passions brought her continual joy. She was an avid gardener, tending her flowers and plants with the same care and patience she offered to family and friends. Elaine found solace in the pages of books, and her love of reading led her to countless worlds and stories. Her kitchen was a gathering place, where the aroma of her cooking brought loved ones together, creating treasured memories over shared meals. She enjoyed traveling and exploring new places throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, but her favorite places were the beaches of Cape Cod and Door County.

Those who knew Elaine recall her grace, her quiet strength and her unwavering generosity. She was a beacon of support, a listening ear and a source of thoughtful guidance for so many privileged to call her friend or family.
