Edwin Bruce Arnold, known as “Kicker”, 60, Plano Texas, formerly of Lake Geneva WI, passed away Sunday, April 28th after a courageous 17-month battle with cancer. Surviving are his spouse of 30 years, Margaret (Peggy), nee McNamee, sons Matthew, 28 and Jarrod, 25. Also surviving are Kicker’s sister Suzanne Arnold and her partner Joanne Siebers of Chicago, his Aunt Cheryl (Tom) Heller of Daytona Beach, FL, sister-in-law Cindy (Leslie) Warren, nieces Emily and Hannah Warren, and brothers-in-law Mike and Jim McNamee of Lake Geneva and beloved dog “Molly”, as well as, numerous cousins. Preceding him in death were his father Bruce, his mother Jean, and sisters Barbara and Lisa Arnold.
Kicker grew up in Lake Geneva, graduating from Badger High School in 1970. He was an avid swimmer, boater and scuba diver. Early involvement in Boy Scouting led him to achieve membership in Order of the Arrow and the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He was also an honor student, class president and captain of the Badger High swim team. Kicker graduated from UC-Santa Barbara in 1977 with a degree in Marine Biology.
A resident of Plano Texas for 20 years, Kicker was involved in various leadership roles with Boy Scouts of America, including den and troop leader, District Committee Member and Order of the Arrow Chapter Advisor. Through his volunteer work Kicker provided many youth with the opportunity to learn life skills to guide them through a life of cheerful service.
Kicker was a devoted father whose constant love and dedication serves as an example for his sons to carry on their father’s legacy. He was a loving husband and best friend to his wife Peggy. Together they were soul mates, a perfect team over-coming obstacles together and accomplishing many successes in their happy 30 years of marriage.
An avid gardener and baker, friends and family anxiously awaited birthdays and holidays for his special cookies, cheesecakes and artisan breads.
After a long career in the telephone communications industry, Kicker’s passion for the environment led him to establish his company “Natural Pest Solutions” with his son Jarrod in 2008.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1229 Park Row in Lake Geneva; Pastor Mary Ann Moller-Gunderson will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
