Douglas D. Shuma, 64, of the Lake Geneva area passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2025, at St. Lukes Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Doug was born on February 16, 1961, to the late Richard and Evelyn (Teteroff) Shuma in Colorado. Doug was a member of the graduating class of 1979 of Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL. After high school Doug attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and also received his MBA from Northwestern University- Kellogg School of Management.
Doug started his career in accounting with Price-Waterhouse. He became the VP/Corporate Controller for Baxter Healthcare. He retired as Senior Vice-President of Finance at Telephone & Data Systems and was a member of the Board of Directors of US Cellular.
Doug was a man who loved sports. His passion was golf and he was a member of Geneva National for 28 years. He also had a love of football, hockey, and fishing. When it was time to get away, he enjoyed traveling to the Dominican Republic and to his second home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Doug is survived by his wife Sheryl, his five siblings: Suzanne (Tom) Coffey, Lynn (Chris) Evans, Richard (Gayle) Shuma, Matthew (Kendra) Shuma and Linda (David) Campbell and his step-mother Nancy Shuma.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Thursday October 2nd, 2025, from 5:00pm till 8:00pm at Celebration on Wells in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
