Dorothy Smith Carr, 75, of Lake Geneva, WI, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2012 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI. The former Dorothy Lee Smith was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 15, 1936 the daughter of the late Harry and Marie (Overburg) Smith. She graduated from Regina High School in Norwood, OH. She married George Carr. In 1966 she and her family moved to Lake Geneva. She worked for many years as the head of Pyrogen Department at Geneva Labs in Elkhorn, WI. Due to multiple sclerosis she was forced to retire in the 1990’s and spent the last eleven years of her life residing at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake Geneva and was the Sunday School Superintendent.
Dottie was a person of very strong faith and was truly an inspiration to all that knew and loved her. She loved music, wrote beautiful poetry and was a huge sports fan, especially the Packers and the Badgers. Above all else, she loved her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.
Dottie is survived by: 5 children; Michael (Linda) Carr of Lodi, WI, Kelly Carr of Williams Bay, WI, Tracy (Robert) Krueger of Lake Geneva, WI, Douglas (Heidi) Carr of Lake Geneva, WI, and Patrick Carr of Freeport, WI, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters Jean McCreary and Sally McCreary.
A service celebrating her life will be held Monday February 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The Carr family will receive visitors Monday from 5:30 p.m. until time of services. To sign the on-line guest registry please go to: derrickfuneralhome.com.
Although she is missed already, we are so grateful for every day we were blessed to share with her and are comforted by the fact that she has gone on to a place where she is with God and loved ones. Be happy Mom, you are free at last.
