Donald Alfred Labahn

Donald A. Labahn, 93, of the Lake Geneva area passed away on Monday October 28, 2024, surrounded by his family at Golden Years in Lake Geneva.

Don was born on December 9th, 1930, to the late Alfred and Bernice (Schur) Labahn in Evanston, Illinois.  After Don graduated High School, he enrolled in the University of Iowa where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education.  On August 3, 1956, at the age of 26 Don entered the United States Army where he served until 1958.

Even though Don earned a degree in physical education he spent his entire life owning and operating Labahn’s Stationary Store in Evanston, Illinois.  In fact, the stationary store is how Don and his late wife Jacqueline met.  She was running “The Beauty Nook Hair Salon” which was just down the street from Labahn’s Stationery Store.  Don was a member of the Elks Club, The Moose Lodge, and was a member of Sigma Epsilon Fraternity.   Don loved to bowl and be creative with displays and window decorations at the store.

Don and his wife Jacqueline were married for 62 years before she proceeded in him in death on December 26, 2021.

Don is survived by his three children:  Donna (Bryan) Consolo, Steve (Diane) Labahn, and Brian (Mark Myers) Labahn.  Six grandchildren: Brittany (Stephen) Montani, Michael Consolo, Matthew (Maggie) Consolo, Kristine Verdico, Eric Labahn, and Kimberly Labahn along with one great grandchild: Logan all survive Don.  Don was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline, one grandson, Bradley Steven, his brother Richard, and his parents.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday November 3rd, 2024, from the hours of 3:00pm till 5:00pm.  A committal service will be held on Monday November 4th, 2024, at 11:00am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked for any and all donations in Don’s name be directed to  Arbor Village of Lake Geneva.
