Dolores (Slawin) Piccirilli

Dolores Irene Piccirilli passed away at the age of 94 this past Friday, December 9th, 2022.

Dolores was born in Chicago on May 6th, 1928, the daughter of Marian and Irene Slawin. She married James C Piccirilli in 1951, whom she met at DePaul University, where they both majored in music. They moved and lived in Elmhurst from 1957-2022. Dolores continued her music career as a local piano teacher, where she taught privately and at Elmhurst College for over 50 years. Dolores was active in many music groups and served as president of the DuPage Music Teachers Assoc. She led a singing group The Abbey Choraliers, playing at local nursing homes. In her retired years she continued teaching younger children well into her 80’s. Dolores was an active volunteer at Visitation Church teaching CCD, founding member of ‘Far from Broadway' benefit series, played piano during church services, and assisted hospice patients.  Dolores did all of this while raising six children.

Dolores is survived by her children James Piccirilli JR., Karen Dvorak, Tom, John, Steven.  Dolores is also survived by her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Dolores was proceeded in death by her husband James and on one son, Paul Piccirilli.

A visitation will be held on Monday December 19th, 2022 from the hours of 9:00am till 10:00am at Visitation Parish Church.  Funeral Mass will begin right after visitation ends at 10:00am.
