Dean R. Schuette, a cherished husband, brother, and friend, will be remembered for his extraordinary spirit and zest for life. He peacefully passed away on January 30, 2026, at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loved ones.
Dean was born on March 5, 1953, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Robert and Evelyn Schuette. Raised in Bellwood, Illinois, he attended St. Simeon's grade school and Fenwick High School, where he showcased his cleverness on the debate team. His academic journey led him to the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in electronic engineering, paving the way for a remarkable 35-year career at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Notably, Dean played a vital role in the construction of the new control tower at O'Hare International Airport and contributed significantly to the Chicago O'Hare Modernization Project, earning a nomination for "Employee of the Year" in 2014.
Dean's warm heart found its match when he met Maureen while volunteering at Calvary Church in Oak Park. Their love blossomed, and they joyfully married on May 20, 1995. With a bond celebrated for 30 years, they shared a life filled with faith, laughter, travel, and cherished memories.
From a young age, Dean's strong work ethic flourished as he helped his father at their family-owned golf course driving range in Addison, Illinois. His adventurous spirit shone through in his youth as he accomplished remarkable feats, from riding 26 miles on a whim to engaging in a 26-hour ping pong marathon that made local headlines. He also realized his dream of flying by earning his pilot's license, even flying a missionary to their destination. In the early 1990s, Dean took on the ambitious project of building his own home. With unwavering determination, he transformed a 1.6-acre lot into a beautiful four-bedroom, two-bath sanctuary for his bride. This achievement became a symbol of his steadfast resolve and love.
Dean's commitment to his Christian faith, solidified on September 17, 1975, profoundly influenced his life. His enthusiasm for sharing the gospel inspired his involvement with the ministry Answers in Genesis, where he took pride in supporting initiatives that fostered a deeper understanding of biblical truth. Dean was an avid reader who cherished the Bible, which he read multiple times, and shared his insights generously.
Celebrating the importance of rest and joy, Dean and Maureen enjoyed vacations each year, exploring the beauty of the United States and venturing to the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Dean's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, wisdom and generosity leaving an indelible mark in the hearts of those who knew him. He was known for his affirmations of love, never missing a day to express "I Love You" to his beloved wife.
Dean is survived by his wife, Maureen; her daughters, Kathy Faulds and Leonore Faulds; sister-in-law Terese Constantino; brother David Schuette (Deb); sister Diane Jorgensen; Donna (Andy) Rich; and several nieces and nephews who will carry forward his loving memory.
As we come together to celebrate the life of Dean R. Schuette, let us carry forward his spirit of love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
To honor Dean's life and the joy he brought to others, a visitation will take place at Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, WI on February 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.
