David Charles Williams

June 23, 1954 — September 1, 2024

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

David Charles Williams, 70, of the Lake Geneva area passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2024.

Davey was born on June 23, 1954, to the late Harvey and Dorothy Williams in Chicago, Illinois.  He was known to all as ‘Davey,’ a term of endearment that brings a smile to everyone’s face.  Davey was a member of the graduating class of 1972 from Bigfoot High School in Walworth, Wisconsin.  After high school, Davey attended Arapahoe College in Littleton, Colorado, where he earned his associates degree in Concrete Technologies.

After college he moved back to Wisconsin, and met the love of his life, Nancy Geldermann.  On August 4th, 1979, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Davey and Nancy were united in marriage, marking the beginning of his deep commitment to his family.  Having lost his parents at a young age, Davey enjoyed the immediate expansion of his family, embracing Nancy’s parents and seven siblings as his own.

Davey was a current member of the Chicago Board of Trade, where he had a long and fulfilling career as a Commodities Broker from 1980 until his retirement in 2009.  He would commute daily from Lake Geneva, affording his family of five children the privilege to be raised in a place that was so special to Davey and Nancy.

Davey loved the outdoors and would spend as much time outside as possible.  He loved a good game of golf or sailing around the lake.  In the wintertime, when he wasn’t snow skiing, you could find him on the lake enjoying ice boating with his fellow ice boaters.  Davey was a member of the Lake Geneva Country Club and The Boulders Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also served on the board of the Geneva Lake Museum for many years. Davey was an active man and always on the go, but there was nothing more important in his life than spending time with his family. In recent winters, Davey and Nancy spent time at their home in Carefree, Arizona, exploring and hiking.

Everyone who knew Davey has a story about how he helped them. Whether it was providing access to his party supply bunker, or physically helping to complete their project, everyone could count on Davey.  He had a gift for connecting with people and his presence was always felt when he was in the room.  He was genuine and sincere with many accomplishments, but none that made him prouder than his family.

Davey had a special relationship with his seven grandchildren, all of whom will remember him for his chocolate chip muffins, the many toys and gifts he thoughtfully brought to them, and his constant pursuit to care for them and see joy on their faces.

Davey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy.  Five children: Annie (David) Deschamps, Michael (Emily) Williams, Charles (Jordyn) Williams, Kevin Williams, and Joanie Williams along with seven grandchildren: Will, Johnny, Graham, and Brian Deshamps, Eleanor, Anna, and Lillian Willams all survive their grandpa.  Three siblings also survive Davey:  Richard (Judy) Williams, Jerry (Leslie) Williams and Marilyn (George) Mayer. Davey was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Dorothy Williams, and in-laws, Thomas and Joan Geldermann.

A mass of Christian Burial for David will be held on Friday September 6th, 2024 at 10:10am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  Burial will take place immediately after the service at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery.  A Visitation will be held on Thursday September 5th, 2024, from 4:00pm till 8:00pm at Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
