Daniel F. Kavanaugh, 90, of Lake Geneva passed away at his home on Monday August 26th, 2013. Daniel Francis Kavanaugh was born on September 6th, 1922 to the late John and Honora (Lucy) Kavanaugh in Chicago, Ill. Dan was a 1939 graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, Ill. Dan was united into marriage to Irene Demkowicz in Grayslake, Ill on January 27th, 1951. Dan was the past president of the Chicago Area Dodge Dealer and he was the founder of the Lake Geneva Rotary Club. Dan was also the founder of Kavanaugh Realty. Dan was a member of American Legion Frank Kresen Post 24 of Lake Geneva, WI and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Fort Myers Beach, FL.
Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years Irene. 2 children survive Dan: Maureen (Douglass) Parker of Bloomington, IL, and Patrick Kavanaugh of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. 3 grandchildren survive Dan: Sean Redenz, Michael Parker, and Brian Parker. 1 great-grandchild, Sage Redenz, survives Dan along with one sister, Delores Maher of West Chester Illinois. His parents and 4 brothers: John, Bernard, Michael, and Gerald Kavanaugh along with 2 sisters; Mary Cranmore and Joni Caplis proceeded Dan in death.
Mass of Christian burial will be said on Friday the 30th of August at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva, WI. Father Jim Schermun will be presiding. Burial will immediately follow the mass at St. Killians Cemetery. Visitation for Daniel will be Thursday the 29th of August from the hours of 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, WI. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the Kavanaugh family has asked that you make a donation in Dan’s name to the angel fund at St. Francis de Sales Church.
