Daniel (Dan) W. Crego of Williams Bay, WI, passed away on January 15, 2025. Daniel was born June 14, 1947, in Chicago Illinois, to the late Ralph and Margaret Crego (nee Brennan). He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda (nee Buckle); daughter, Barbara Stamets (Don) of Batavia, IL; two grandsons, Matthew Stamets (Blanca Paniello Castillo) of Barcelona, Spain, and Tom Stamets, of Williams Bay, WI. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Buckle (Robert), and Carolyn Morgan (Rod, deceased). He will be missed by many, including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents-in-law Frank and Marjorie (nee Spear) Buckle.
Dan proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968 and was a member of American Legion Ingalls-Koeppen Post 102 in Walworth, WI. He retired from Commonwealth Edison in 2001 and was also a member of the Billiard Congress of America. Dan’s passion was cooking, and he loved to entertain and cook for his family and friends. The memories made with his loved ones will be cherished forever by all who knew his larger-than-life personality, generosity, and unconditional love of his family. A special thanks to the staff of Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan, WI for the excellent care he received as a resident.
Services will be held on Friday, February 7 at 11:00am, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva, WI. There will be a gathering of friends and family at 10:00am prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org) or Shriners Children’s Hospital (www.lovetotherescue.org).
