Clarence Lester Gauger, aged 82, died peacefully July 5 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. Clarence was born July, 17 1939 to Lester and Adeline Gauger in Elkhorn. Clarence lived all of his life in southeast Wisconsin and most of it in the Lake Geneva area. On May 19, 1962 Clarence married Doris Bennett of Burlington. The couple lived for many years in Lake Geneva. Clarence worked for the City of Burlington and, later, as a Union laborer based out of Madison. Clarence also did nuisance animal trapping, tree trimming and concrete work. Clarence was a lifetime member of both the Wisconsin Trapper’s Association and National Trapper’s Association. Clarence’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and trapping. Clarence is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; his two children Gail Gauger of Lake Geneva and Amy Hills of Milwaukee; grandchildren Steven Arnold (Liz) of La Crosse, Joshua Hills of Manitowoc and Anthony Hills; great-grandchildren Clarence, Winston, Gillian and Ryleigh; brothers Frank “Babe” (Mary) Gauger of Lyons, Jack (Marilyn) Gauger of Big Bend; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and more. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Adeline, and by many loved ones on each side of his extended family. The family will receive relatives and friends at 10 a.m. July 18, 2022 at Brick Church, N1509 Brick School Road in Walworth. A service of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Memorials can be directed to the family. The family wishes to thank all those who expressed their condolences, either in person or otherwise, in the time since Clarence’s passing.
