Charles “Al” Kline, 95, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Monday January 5, 2016 at Arbor Village in Lake Geneva. Charles Alvin Kline was born August 9, 1920 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Charles G. and Alice (Jacobson) Kline. He graduated from Albert G. Lane Technical High School in Chicago. Al was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater. He served as a Master Sergeant commanding the G3 section of the 96th Infantry division and was part of the invasion of Leyte Island and Okinawa. He received the Bronze Star. In 1948 he married Louise Erickson. They were married 37 years before she passed away. Al moved to Tucson, AZ where he met and married his second wife Marge. Following her passing Al moved to Lake Geneva to be near family. Al worked for many years for Du All Tile in Chicago. Al was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva. He is survived by: 3 nieces; Karen (Peter) Stein of Lake Geneva, WI, Sally (Chuck) Baldwin of Blue Springs, MO, and Sherry (Lyle) Smith of Kansas City, MO, a nephew Ken (Sally) Hovland of Twin Lakes, WI and a cousin Waunetah (Fred) Hucul of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by 2 nephews Gene Hovland and William Kline. Services for Al will be held on Friday January 8, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva; Pastor Mark Moller-Gunderson of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Al’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
