Carolyn Marie (Shem) Dunn

Carolyn M. Dunn, 68, of Lake Geneva, WI, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016 at her home.  The former Carolyn Marie Shem was born in Chicago, IL on May 6, 1948, the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Caley) Shem.  She attended the Academy of Our Lady High School (Longwood) in Chicago, and graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville, IN in 1966.  She attended Barat College in Lake Forest, IL, and graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1988 with a degree in Education.  On July 20, 2002, she was united in marriage to Timothy J. Dunn in Williams Bay, WI. Carolyn dedicated her life to working with children and single moms who were in need.  She taught in several Christian schools (among them Faith Christian School in Grand Detour, IL and Mt. Zion Christian School in Lake Geneva), volunteered at the Agape House in Walworth, WI, served as a missionary with YWAM, and opened her home and heart to many.  She was an energetic, loving, devoted and compassionate wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Tim and four children:  Jennifer (Joel) Kimball of Ahmeek, MI; Katherine (Patrick) McIntosh of Lowell, IN; James Kelby of Lake Geneva, WI; and Christine (Joe) Novak of Lake Geneva, WI; seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers: Raymond (Jackie) Shem Jr., of Parker CO; William (Betty) Shem of Greybull, WY; four sisters: Diane (Bart) Fitz of Lake Geneva, WI; Loretta Shem of Kansas City, MO; Barbara (Charles) Azzarello of Skokie, IL and Linda (Geoff) Pierce of Lisle, IL as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 11:00am - 1:00pm with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Christian Church in Lake Geneva. Pastor Dave Adams will officiate.  Burial will be in Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery Thursday, December 1st at 11:00am.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are requested in Carolyn’s name to Agape House, 215 S.
