Carolyn Ann King Mccormick

Carolyn Ann King McCormick was born March 3, 1945, in Monroe, Wisconsin to Herbert and Miriam (Hevrin) King.  She was the youngest of 2 children.  Carolyn went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 1, 2024.

Carolyn spent her first five years on a farm in Albany, Wisconsin.  She moved to Lake Geneva where she attended grade school and high school and graduated in 1963.

After graduation she attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout of Menomonie, Wisconsin, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in home economics.

Her first job out of school was with the Wisconsin Southern Gas Company in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.   She served as a district manager for the utility.  In this position she developed and presented programs on home appliances and energy conservation.  She also edited consumer materials and conducted educational radio programs.

While living in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Carolyn was an active member of several professional associations.  She served as chairman of Wisconsin Home Economists in Business and vice president of Program for the Wisconsin Home Economics Association.  She was also active in the Lake Geneva Chamber of Commerce and in other community and church groups.

Her next job took her to the Mirro Aluminum Company in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where she worked in the test kitchen producing and testing new products.

From Mirro she moved to the Kraft Test Kitchens in Chicago, IL. She lived in Arlington Heights, IL. She tested and developed many of the Kraft products but specialized in the cheese area.

Conagra Foods Test Kitchens was her next place of employment.  She started working with Conagra when the company moved from St. Louis, Missouri, to Omaha, Nebraska.  It was when she was a culinary produce specialist and manager of the test kitchen that she honed her skills of food photography.  She very much enjoyed taking pictures of food.  Even, recently she would look at pictures of food and tell you if it was a good picture or tell you what was wrong with it.  Another area of her job was to test and develop frozen food containers along with the packaging of frozen foods for the microwave oven.

She retired in 2012. When she retired, she became a professional volunteer.

She volunteered at her church, for the Assistance League of Omaha (ALO), at Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp and at the Crook House as a docent. She sang with the group Voices of Omaha.

Carolyn was currently a member at Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Omaha, Nebraska.  She was very active in each of the churches she attended through the years. Her activities included teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and as a soloist, working with youth groups, Awana, serving as a recording secretary and planning many dinners plus decorating for the occasion.  Her current responsibilities were Sunday School teacher of 3rd and 4th graders and recording secretary.

While serving at the Assistance League of Omaha (ALO) she loved working with the public at the thrift store while waiting on customers and running the cash register.  She served one year as president, was co-manager of the donations and she participated in the different non-profit charities.

Carolyn and her sister Janice had many good times at the Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp in Genoa, Nebraska.  They were both involved in skits, putting puzzles together, laughing, offering advice on meals (when asked), folding laundry, going on hay rack rides, attending services and spending time with friends.

She is survived by her sister, Janice of Omaha; cousins, Leon King of Madisonville, Louisiana; Donna Jean Edmonds, Beloit, Wisconsin; Duane (Mary) Ruff of Janesville, Wisconsin; Lucielle Whiteacker of Janesville, Wisconsin; Sharon Pryce of Broadhead, Wisconsin; Alan (Janice) King of Broadhead, Wisconsin; David (Janis) King of Albany, Wisconsin.  Carolyn is also cherished by many friends who continue to share her memory.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and stepmother and many aunts and uncles.

Graveside services will be held on Friday October 25th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Salem Mound Cemetery in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin.
