Carol Rose (Althafer) Hafs

April 3, 1929 — November 29, 2019

Carol R. Hafs, 90, of Lake Geneva, WI, died Friday November 29, 2019 at Lakeland Health Care Center.  The former Carol Rose Althafer was born in Queen City, MO on April 3, 1929 the daughter of the late Reverend Arthur and Rose (Marzhal) Althafer.  She was a graduate of Genoa City High School.  On January 9, 1946 in Dubuque, IA she was united in marriage to Hubert Hafs; he preceded her in death on June 24, 2011.

Carol was a member of the Peace Corps for one year in Kenya and East Africa where she was, lovingly, a mother hen to all the Peace Corps volunteers.  While in Africa she and her family were threatened by an angry bull elephant.  She was a member and former President of the Lake Geneva Garden Club. Her passions were her faith, her family and music and art.  She had a great sense of humor; and will be greatly missed.

Carol is survived by: 3 children; Helen (Douglas) Skrade of Medford, WI, William (Beverly) Hafs of Denmark, WI and Patricia (Timothy) Kaddatz of Genoa City, WI, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Charles Althafer.

Services for Carol will be held on Saturday December 7, 2019 at12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pell Lake.  Carol’s family will receive visitors  Saturday, in church, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.  Derrick Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hafs family.  To sign the on-line guest registry go to: www.derrickfuneralhome.com.
