Bonnie L (Burtness) Cooper

October 12, 1962 — June 27, 2025

Bloomfied, WIsconsin

Bonnie L. Cooper passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on June 27th, 2025. Although her absence will leave a void in the hearts of her loved ones, Bonnie’s request is that we all remember her and share a smile rather than spend time mourning her departure.

Bonnie was born October 12, 1962 in Harvard, IL to Judy and Robert Burtness. She was a graduate from Harvard High school in 1980. In her younger years she enjoyed spending time with her pony and horse, or cruising around in her sports cars. She also spent her summers helping on her aunt and uncle's farm and spending time with her cousins in Stratford, Wi.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Robert J Cooper, her two daughters Kira (Gregg) Petersen and Kayla (Sam) Kagel, her grandkids; Wade, Regan, Cora, and future granddaughter Sadie; her brother Steve (Sonja) Burtness; stepmother Diane Burtness; In-laws Don and Jean Cooper; brother in law Mike (Teresa) Cooper; and Sister in law Cheri Grelyak. She was preceded in death by her parents Judy and Bob Burtness and brother in law Bryan Grelyak.

Bonnie retired from Illinois Tool Works-Filtertek in 2022 after 31 years of employment. During that time she made many close friends that became family. Not to mention it's the place she met Bob, her husband. She was well known and well liked throughout the facility. Over the years she coordinated many potlucks, volunteered her time to support United Way, and brightened the days of her coworkers. Although her time with family was cut short, she cherished every minute and made the most of each and every day. She enjoyed grabbing breakfast with friends and family, baking her well known cakes or home cooked meals, or simply hanging out at home with her husband, children and grandchildren.

In lieu of expressions of sympathy, Bonnie would like any donations to be made to support St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research so they can continue to research new cancer treatments.

A celebration of Bonnies life will be held on Saturday September 13th, 2025, from 4:00pm till 7:00pmpm at the Genoa City Veterans Park, 755 Fellows Road, Genoa City, WI. 53128.
