Betty C. Kalina, 95, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Deerfield Beach, FL, died Saturday May 7, 2016. The former Betty Cheney was born in Chicago, IL on June 19, 1920 the daughter of the late Howard and Ella (Muhlenfeld) Cheney. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Chicago in 1939. She then attended Wright Junior College in Chicago. On March 21, 1942 she was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Kalina; he preceded her in death in June of 1991. She and Kenneth enjoyed spending time together on the water sailing. She also worked in the pantry at her church in Florida and volunteered in the library at Mount Zion Christian Church in Lake Geneva.
Betty is survived by: 3 children; Joy (Steve) Currie of Marysville, WA, Sue (Arvid) Dahlstrom of Lake Geneva, WI and Kenneth (Judy) Kalina of Chicago, IL, 6 grandchildren; Matt and Nate Currie, Karl Dahlstrom and Renee Mulder and Kristy Wynne and Josh Kalina, 9 great-grandchildren and a brother Howard (Jane) Cheney of Gaylord, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Betty’s name to: Aurora at Home Hospice.
