Ann E. (Gelderman) O'Connor

December 20, 1932 — March 29, 2013

Ann E. O’Connor, 80, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Friday March 29, 2013 at Mercy Walworth Hospital.  The former Ann Elizabeth O’Connor was born in Chicago, IL on December 20, 1932 the daughter of the late Gregory A. and Mary (O’Brien) Gelderman.  She graduated from Woodlands Academy in Lake Forest, IL and then from Mahattanville College in New York, NY with a BA in History.  On September 18, 1954 in Winnetka, IL she was united in marriage to James O’Connor.  Ann was a member of the Lake Geneva Lyric Opera, the Fontana Garden Club and the Walworth County Questers. She was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Horticultural Hall in Lake Geneva.
Ann is survived by: James, her husband of 58 years, 6 children; Ann (Steve) Bundy of Orinda, CA, Alicia (Jack) Hamill of Streamwood, IL, Mary Claire (Steve) Vreugdenhil of Chicago, IL, Jamie (Kathleen) O’Connor of Denver, CO, Tracey O'Connor of Alameda, CA and Cara Courtney (Bill) Nathan of Whitewater, WI, 13 grandchildren and a brother Peter Gelderman.  She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Anthony and John.
A service celebrating Ann’s life will be held at a later date.  Ann was beloved by many. She was kind. Considerate. Plucky.  And she could take a joke.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy please consider making a donation to your favorite charity.  Derrick Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lake Geneva, WI is assisting the O’Connor family with arrangements.
