Andrew DeYoung “Andy” died peacefully in the Veteran’s Home at the Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove, WI on January 28, 2016, at the age of 82.
Andy was born on September 7, 1933, to Andrew and Nellie DeYoung in Genoa City, Wisconsin. He graduated from Racine Agricultural School in 1951. He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and graduated after completing a short course in Agriculture. He served in the United States Army in Korea. Upon his return, Andy became a dairy farmer for 30 plus years in Lake Geneva, WI.
Andy loved farming and providing for his family. Later in life, Andy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow up, and graduate from college. Andy was a well liked and helpful person in the community. He was an active member of Linn Township Fire Department and the Traver School Board.
Andy is survived by his former wife Lois (Speckman) DeYoung ; son, Steven (Cindy) DeYoung; grandson, Steven (Brianna) De Young; grandson, Alex DeYoung; son, Craig De Young, Therese McDonald, and grandson; Grant De Young. He is also survived by his sisters Francis Rahn, Alice Rahn, and Ann Siebel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Jerry De Young.
Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the DeYoung family with arrangements.
There will be no formal services per Andy’s wishes. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy donations are requested in Andy’s name to: Wisconsin Veteran’s Home, 21425G Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182
