Rosemary (Freund) Young

Rosemary Young, 100, of Lake Geneva, WI formerly of Johnsburg, IL passed away peacefully at home on Monday August 7, 2017 with her family around her.  The former Rosemary Freund was born in McHenry, IL on January 4, 1917 the daughter of the late John and Emma (Tonyan) Freund.   She was raised on the family farm and worked in the family business, Freund’s Dairy. On April 14, 1937, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnsburg she was united in marriage to Leo M. Young; he preceded her in death October 24, 2003.  

Rosemary and Leo moved to William’s Bay, WI in 1965 and opened the House of Home Furnishing furniture business in Delavan, WI. In 1969 they purchased the historical Allyn Mansion in Delavan and moved their business into the mansion.  They sold the business and retired in 1989.

Rosemary was a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church in Fontana, WI.

She is survived by: 3 children; Joan Baron of Bonita Springs, FL and Lake Geneva, WI, Carol (Bill Luy) Long of Lake Geneva and Christopher (Nancy) Young of Fort Myers, FL, 3 grand children; Robin Zaura, Josh and Adam Young, 2 great-grandchildren; Audrey and Claire Zaura and a sister Mary (John) Draper of Cummings, GA.  She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will held on Thursday August 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Benedict Catholic Church on Fontana, WI.  Entombment will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Thursday, in church, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Rosemary’s name to Aurora At Home Hospice, 110 Dodge St., Burlington, WI 53105.  Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva is assisting the Young family with arrangements.  To sign the on-line guest registry to: www.derrickfuneralhome.com
