James L. Timms

James L. Timms, 74, of Elkhorn, WI, formerly of Lake Geneva, WI, died Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. James Lyle Timms was born in Chicago, IL on December 5, 1943, the son of the late Lyle and Vernette (Burnburg) Timms. He graduated from Badger High School in Lake Geneva in 1961. Following graduation from Badger, he enlisted in the United States Navy. On August 19, 1967, in Lake Geneva, he was united in marriage to the former Virginia Vosicky. Both Jim and Ginny attended the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater. Jim worked for many years as a sales engineer for Watlow-Gordon Company in Richmond, IL.

Jim had been a student of the Bible, having studied, developed teaching materials, and taught continually for over thirty years. He was one of the early founders of Faith Christian School in Williams Bay, WI; Jim served on the school board for 6 years and as chairman for 3 years.

Jim and Ginny were active members of Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay for many years. After that, he was one of the founders of Lighthouse Bible Church in Lake Geneva, which was established in 2004; he assumed the role of Pastor-Teacher on a part-time basis in May of 2005. Following his retirement from Watlow-Gordon, he began as full-time Pastor in January of 2006. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in August of 2008. 

Jim was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan. He was a member of E.A.A. and enjoyed attending the fly-in at Oshkosh, WI. Some of his happiest times were spending time with his family in Door County.

Jim is survived by: Ginny, his wife of 50 years, a daughter Stacey (Kevin) Nordmeyer of Milwaukee, WI, a grandson Ryan Nordmeyer, a brother Randy (Jo) Timms of East Troy, WI and a sister Pam (Don) Richmond of Sturgeon Bay, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Jim will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva; Pastor Darrell Bendorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
