Irene M. (Brown) Sculley

Irene M. Sculley, 86, a lifelong resident of Lake Geneva, died Saturday March 15, 2014 at her home.  The former Irene May Brown was born in Geneva Township, WI on May 6, 1927 the daughter of the late George and Hellena (Kaszmerchek) Brown.  She graduated from Lake Geneva High School with the Class of 1945.  She was a customer service representative for Bell Telephone Company for 22 years, she then worked at Gateway Technical College for 5 years then for 15 years she worked for the Lake Geneva Public Library.  She was an active member of the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church.  She was a social activist and was one of the founders of the Equal Rights Association in Lake Geneva.  She was a member of the President’s Council on the Status of Women during the Carter administration which led to the Family Services Center in Walworth County.  She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She was active in the Lake Geneva Historical Society.  She was an active member of the Democratic Party.  She had been a Pink Lady at Lakeland Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Friends of the Lake Geneva Library and belonged to many book clubs.
Irene is survived by her daughter Vida Rose of Lake Geneva, WI.
Services for Irene will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church; Reverend Keith Aurand will officiate.  The Sculley family will receive visitors Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
