Hasley family, I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers are sent your way and may good memories help ease the pain. She was a beautiful person...inside and out.

They say Angels come into our lives at a time we most need them if we only open our hearts, our eyes and our minds, acknowledging their presence and the timing of their entry into our lives. You were just that, Betty, and I feel blessed to have met you and shared stories, even though they were brief, shared at the Saturday night church service we attended. We shared a laugh when after our first introduction I learned your name was Betty, I than stated you were my "new" Betty since my best friend, also Betty, of 35+ years had just moved to Florida. You expressed your condolences when I also explained that I lost my dog, dear companion Abby, the previous day to Betty's move, offering to paint a rock in her memory. I enjoyed our conversations each Saturday and looked forward to seeing you again on the following Saturday night service. For weeks that turned into months I looked for you but you were not there. After fearing the worse I only now found your obituary in the paper, sad that I was not able to pay my respect to you and express my condolences to your loved ones. I think back now on our last conversation in which you had told me your 88th birthday was fast approaching in early November. You went on to tell me you feared you would not reach it, further explaining that you had lost your own Mother many years prior, also in the month of November. I made light of that conversation assuring you than that you were a "tough bird" and would surely make your 88th birthday and more! Well Betty, you "did" make it to your 88th birthday, I only wish it was not your last, but I am sure your Mother welcomed you into her arms at that moment. Saddened now to have lost yet another "earth" angel but feeling blessed by your presence in my life, short as it may have been.

All my memories of your mother from the time the "fur" pillows filled the playpens at Maxwell St. Days to the many projects in the basement plus all her handiwork at the Museum...she is always smiling in my mind. You captured the essence of her so beautifully in describing her life and the lovely video. She touched so many...
My sympathy to all of you and to your dad. She'll always be missed.
Love, Susan

John and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

At the rising of the sun and its going down, we remember you.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of Winter, we remember you.
At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of Spring, we remember you.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, we remember you.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of Autumn, we remember you.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember you.
As long as we live, You too will live; for you are now a part of us,
as we remember you, for now and forever, (Irish proverb)

I never met Betty, but she sounds like an amazing person! I see where Holly gets her charm, wit and enthusiasm. Thinking of your family and sending you love.

From, your LC neighbor Lisa Todd

A bonus to seeing you at your shop near my home, Liz, was your mom's presence, that smile -- sharing time and talk with her. So sharp-looking always, so bright and engaged with our chats. I send my thoughts, condolences to the entire family. I send love.

Everything written in the obituary is everything I have been thinking about Aunt Betty these past few days. Especially how she always wanted to hear your “story”.
She always made you feel like she was so terribly interested in your feelings. It would take too many words that I can’t come up with to explain how she made me feel when I spent time with her. She just was a special one of a kind. I know she will be missed but remember the good times. I’m sure there was never a dull moment! Hugs to my cousins and Uncle Gene.
