Dorothy Herlach, formerly a resident of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Arthur D. Herlach; her parents, Clemens and Agnes Chmurski; and her brothers, Clifford and Ralph Chmurski. Dorothy and Art had moved to Lake Geneva after their retirement.
Dorothy was a licensed clinical social worker (L.C.S.W.), and had served as the Associate Director of Social Work and senior clinical social worker of Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Dorothy graduated from Marquette University and received her Master’s Degree (M.S.W.) from the University of Kansas. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers (N.A.S.W.); the alumni associations of Marquette University and the University of Kansas; the American Association of University Women (A.A.U.W.); and St. Francis de Sales Parish of Lake Geneva.
She is survived by her son, Mark Herlach of Washington, D.C.; her daughter, Marcia Herlach Babler, and son-in-law, Scott Babler, of Libertyville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Brook Herlach of Arlington, Virginia; Alexa Shotan of New York, New York; and Kimberly Herlach of Denver, Colorado; and one great grandchild, Olivia Shotan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday September 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva: Farther Mark Danczyk will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, in church, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Dorothy’s name to Saint Francis deSales Parish.
