Bonnie G. Hawkins, 78, of Elkhorn, WI, died Monday September 23, 2019 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. The former Bonnie Gillette was born in Evanston, IL on January 21, 1941 the daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen (Salamon) Gillette. She graduated from Evanston High School in 1959. On May 23, 1964, in Evanston, IL, she was united in marriage to John “Jack” Hawkins. She was a member and former President of the Lake Geneva Women’s Association. She was field editor for Taste of Home and Our Wisconsin magazines. She was very active with the Lakeland Animal Shelter.
Bonnie is survived by: Jack, her husband of 55 years, 2 children; Dan Hawkins and Chris Hawkins both of Fox Lake, IL, and by 3 grandchildren; Tacey Hawkins, Brody and Stefie Frye’
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother George Gillette.
Services for Bonnie will be Thursday October 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the main chapel of the Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until time of service.
