Joseph E. Szarek

Joseph E. Szarek, 105, a longtime resident of Lake Geneva, died Tuesday April 5, 2016 at his home.  Joseph Edward Szarek was born on July 12, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Frank and Mary Szarek.  He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army in the European Theater.  On December 17, 1955 in Chicago he was united in marriage to the former Georgiana Dvoreck; she preceded him in death on October 31, 2006.  He and his wife were the former owners of the Sunset Motel which was south of Lake Geneva on what is now County Road H.  He was an avid bird watcher and reader, but, his greatest passion was fishing.  Joseph is survived: by 2 daughters; Kimberly Palik of Delavan, WI and Kathy (Mike) Robinson of Lake Geneva, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer Stinnett, Heather Hogg, Christopher Palik and Kelly Palik, 8 great-grandchildren and a sister Mildred Chiari of Nicholasville, KY.  He was preceded in death 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  Memorial Services for Joseph will be held on Sunday April 10, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services.  Visitation will be Sunday, at the funeral home, from 1:30 p.m. until time of services.  To sign the on-line guest registry click guest book/condolences.
