John Michael Mahoney II, 75, formerly of the Bristol area, and most recently of the Hazel Green area, died unexpectedly in Dubuque, Iowa.

Born John Michael Mahoney II (known to everyone as “Mike”) on January 14th, 1943 to the late John and Veronica (Friemoth) Mahoney of Elkhorn, Wisconsin.  Mike was a member of the Burlington High School graduating class of 1962.  After high school, Mike went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Mike was an avid woodworker and was a 4H woodworking instructor for many years.  Mike enjoyed square dancing and playing golf at many local courses.  He earned his private pilot’s license and also enjoyed aviation.  After retiring from Deere & Company 2 years ago, Mike was able to enjoy his love of farming, but there was nothing that gave him more joy and laughter than spoiling his grandkids and spending time with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen; three children: G’nee (Paul) Andrulis of Willowbrook, Illinois; Kurt (Joanne) Kayser of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and Kamin (Adrienne) Mahoney of Woodstock, Illinois; six grandchildren: Jarrett, Tanner, Alec, Kaden, Sam, and Allegra; along with one brother: Gerald Mahoney of St. Charles, Missouri; and one sister-in-law: Diane Mahoney of Sharon, Wisconsin.  Mike was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy (Binder) Mahoney in January of 1981 and his brother Brian in 2016.

Services for Mike will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at 12:00pm in the main chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be from 11:00am till 12:00pm, and then following the service.
