James Vaclav Bukac

May 13, 1939 ~ April 8, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

"Nikdy na Tebe nezapomeneme"

Today in this quiet place we remember the life of James Vaclav Bukac, along with all those we have loved and who have gone before.

James Vaclav Bukac was born on May 13, 1939 in Srnojedy, Czechoslovakia, deceased April 8, 2017.

In his youth, Jim was very active in hockey, soccer, skiing and swimming. He was in the army and then eventually finished his studies to be an engineer. He valued education and got his masters in engineering. Jim left oppressive communist Czechoslovakia for a better life for him and his family. It wasn’t easy for the family that he left behind. Jim worked hard as an engineer and on challenging and interesting projects. His work took him to near and faraway places like San Diego, Japan, and Germany.

Whether his children were on the hockey rink, tennis court, in the classroom or working, he instilled in them his strong work ethic. He taught his children never to give up. His curiosity and love for adventure was contagious. His children will always remember the many family trips they went on. They have caught the same sense of adventure and have been traveling and playing sports themselves and with their families. Over the years, Jim told many stories about his youth, adventures and politics. Jim always liked a good story or joke. He was quick to smile and laugh and definitely not shy to roar with laughter if the need arose. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, skiing, and playing volleyball, tennis and swimming. The longer Jim was a citizen of the United States the more he was proud to be an American.. When asked where he wanted his ashes to reside, there was no doubt that he wanted to remain in the United States. Jim is preceded in death by is parents Marie and Vaclav, survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Eva, brother Huebert and his wife, Eva, children Eva, Glenn and Janette and their husbands Dane and Tim, grandchildren Olivia, Veronika, Nick, Vivian, Beau, Juliette and nephews Richard and Alex.
