Gerald "Jerry" Smith Jr.

Gerald H. “Jerry” Smith Jr., 84, of Lake Geneva, WI, died Wednesday January 11, 2017 at his home.  Gerald Henry Smith Jr. was born in Lyndonville, VT on November 10, 1932 the son of the late Gerald H. and Georgia (Craig) Smith Sr.  He graduated from Lyndon Institute in Lyndon Center, VT in 1950; he then graduated from Dartmouth University in 1954 with a degree in economics.  He then earned a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Pittsburg in Pittsburg, PA.  He served with the United States Navy as a Lieutenant J.G. during the Korean War in the North Pacific aboard the picket ship the U.S.S. Calcaterra.   He was a member and treasurer of the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church in Lake Geneva.  He was a talented woodworker; he ran a program through the church that made wooden toys for kids. 

Jerry is survived by: Jane, his wife of 60 years, 2 sons; Craig (Connie) Smith of Barrington Hills, IL and Scott (Elizabeth) Smith of Lake Geneva, WI, 3 granddaughters; Alison, Katherine, and Jessica.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gordon.

Services for Jerry will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church; Pastor Heather Brewer will officiate.  Inurnment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.  Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Lake Geneva.
