Ernest Brook McNeely Jr.

Ernest B. McNeely, Jr. passed peacefully with his loving family nearby of cancer on Friday, January 29 in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin.

Ernie, who was known as “Chick” to his family and friends from his home state of West Virginia, and “Mac” to his family and friends from Northern Illinois, was the founder and owner of EMC Chemicals, a company he leaves as a legacy to his family and grandchildren.

Ernest was a US Army veteran stationed in Honolulu where he met and married Pat, his wife of nearly 40 years, who predeceased him in 2000.  Ernie is survived by his children, Michael McNeely, Mary McNeely Merchant and Kelly McNeely, son in law Aly Merchant, daughter in law Sandra and grandchildren Kelsey Olson, Kirsten Olson, Cavan McNeely, Brannon McNeely and Alex Merchant.  Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Ernest B. McNeely, Sr. and Stella Browning McNeely and siblings Marzetta, Laurence, Mary Lou McNeely Keaton, Betty Jane McNeely Smith, Helen McNeely Wooten and those siblings that survive him:  Billy Jean McNeely, Ginger Lee McNeely Jeffrey, Kay Francis (Tansy) McNeely Hall and Charlie McNeely.  He has numerous brother and sister in laws as well as nieces and nephews.

A life celebration will take place on Saturday, January 30 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Lake Geneva Lanes in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  The family wishes to thank Cousin/Aunt Beatrice Kay Tompos for her love, hugs and support during Ernie’s last days.  They also ask that any remembrance gifts be sent as a donation to the Patricia McNeely Fund at the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, 101 W Pleasant St., Ste 210, Milwaukee, WI 53212, www.greatermilwaukeefoundation.org
