Ellen D. (McAvoy) Hinrichs

Ellen D. Hinrichs, 92, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Thursday July 28, 2016 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI.  The former Ellen Dorothy McAvoy was born in Chicago, IL on April 11, 1924 the daughter of the late Christopher and Ella (Turschman) McAvoy.  She was a graduate of Jones Commercial High School in Chicago and worked in banking at the Federal Reserve Bank and Continental Bank when not raising her beloved daughters.  On April 21, 1951, in Chicago, she was united in marriage to Carl H. Hinrichs; he preceded her in death on March 4, 2016.  Ellen was an avid reader, but, her great love was being with her dogs and supporting animal rights organizations.

Ellen is survived by: 2 daughters; Nancy (Thomas) Warmoth of Lake Geneva, WI and Gloria (the late Steven) Nelson of Chicago, IL, 4 grandchildren; Ashley and Sean Warmoth and Jonathan and Christopher Nelson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, and a brother Thomas McAvoy.  Services will be Monday August 1, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of the Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva.  Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 p.m. until time of services.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Ellen’s name to: ASPCA or PAWS.  To sign the on-line guest registry please click guest book/condolences.
