Doris "Dorothy" L. (Shelton) Meyers

August 17, 1933 ~ August 19, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Doris L. Meyers, 84, of Lake Geneva, WI died Saturday August 19, 2017 at her home in Lake Geneva surrounded by family and loved ones.  The former Doris Lee Shelton was born in Holt, MO on August 17, 1933 the daughter of the late Beverly and Dora (Murphy) Shelton.  On September 22, 1951 in Chicago, IL she was united in marriage to Darwin “Mickey” Meyers they called the Wisconsin/Illinois border their home; he preceded her in death on February 29, 2008.  She retired from Seaquist Closures in Mukwonago, WI in 1998 after 25 years of services. 

Doris attended Catholic School until 8th grade when she had to leave to work and help provide for her family. The challenges she experienced as a youth shaped her into the selfless and hardworking caregiver all came to know and love. She enjoyed cooking homemade meals, organizing charitable causes (such as her famed neighborhood pancake breakfasts), and donating time and energy to helping those in need. She volunteered with VNA Hospice and tended to whomever needed help whether it be a person or wounded animal. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family.  Many summers were spent camping and boating on Lake Wisconsin with family and friends.  Doris attended St. Francis deSales Catholic Church where she found joy in serving the Lord.

 Doris is survived by: 3 daughters; Sandra (Donald)Cote’, Jeannette (Jack Gerard) Meyers and Shannon (Steve) Booker all of Genoa City, WI, 6 grandchildren; Andrea (Bob) Cook, Danelle (Tim) Plennes, Michelle (Brandon Salvatore) Meyers, Josh, Zach, and Emilee Booker, 4 great-grandchildren; Courtnee Bader, Landon and Lathan Plennes and Sienna Salvatore; 2 step great grandchildren Robert and Maxwell Cook and 1 brother Phil Dalton of Decatur, AL. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Frank and Robert Shelton and Larry Dalton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva.  Visitation will be Saturday in church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Doris’s name to Aurora VNA Hospice, a link has been provided below for your convenience.  Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to be assisting the Meyers family with arrangements.  To sign the on-line guest registry click guest book/condolences
