I just learned about Don's passing one hour ago from Brian Bowman, and wanted to leave my heartfelt sympathies to you Jackie and the whole family. Of the family members I knew Don and Dan the best because of my long relationship with the Getzen family at DEG Music. Don and I also had the U.S. Navy in common. I will remember his generous smile and fun-loving, caring attitude. One Christmas, I received a mysterious box from Don and had no idea what it could be.

It was soon after he was working with Kelly Mouthpieces and he had sent me a box of one dozen chocolate tuba mouthpieces!!! I loved his sense of humor and
his love of people and family. Don was an important figure for me and someone who will be always close in my thoughts. His contributions to our music field are and will continue to be........legendary and REAL! Hold each other close and as you work through this difficult time, I can promise smiles to replace the tears. All the very best to family and friends...............Don's people!!

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Don Getzen. I still have the Marzan tuba he sold to me in 1972. He also was most helpful when I came in to purchase a soft case for it several years later. I know he was amazingly supportive of school music and bands. He was always full of help when ever I happened in to the DEG facility. I know he will be missed by many whom he helped. He will also never know how many he helped indirectly as well. Rest in peace...

Don, you were a great inspiration to so many and you will be missed by all of us. After meeting you for the first time, Jim and I knew that we made the right choice when choosing to buy a home in the Manor. We will always cherish the times we spent with you and Jackie. Thank you for all the humorous and wonderful memories. You have no idea how much your friendship meant to both of us. I wish I had told you that but at least I feel that you know it now.
