Welcome to the memorial page for

Barry Scot Goad

May 3, 1963 ~ February 6, 2017 (age 53) 53 Years Old

Barry S. Goad, 53, a longtime resident of Genoa City and currently of Twin Lakes passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 6th, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

He was born May 3rd, 1963 in Burlington, WI  the son of Harold W. "Buster" Goad and Jean R. (Katzenberg) Goad.

He attended Brookwood Schoolfrom Kindergarten thru 8th grade and received the Citizenship Award at his graduation.  He graduated from Badger High School in 1981 and attended Gateway Technical College.

Ever since 1st grade, Barry liked to entertain his friends and family with his jokes and funny stories and once when being disciplined in elementary school by a teacher he was told he was never going to be able to use those 'talents' in adult life to make a living.  Just to prove her wrong, Barry owned and operated Barry's Bar, No Grill in Genoa City for over 20 years where those 'talents' were used every day talking to patrons and sharing stories and making people laugh! Later on he partnered with friends to operate 332 Fellows a bar that this time DID have a grill.  Most recently he was employed at The Grand Geneva Resort as the Food & Beverage Manager for Golf and Ski.  He loved his staff and the people he interacted with on a daily basis.

On June 3,2006 he married his best friend and the love of his life for a total of 25 years, Debbie (Bottlemy) Fredrickson at their home in Genoa City.

He entered the political arena, although he never wanted to be called a politician, in 2001 by serving a two year term on the Genoa City Village Board and in 2003 ran for Village President and served four term in that capacity until 2011.  He took seriously the responsibilities that came with that job and loved the community he lived in.

Throughout his life Barry enjoyed playing softball and played with a core group of longtime friends who were his other 'family.'  He coached Little League for a few seasons and amazed his family with his patience in getting a 9 year old boy to swing a bat at a ball being thrown at him.

He was a lifelong Packer fan who called his Sunday's in front of the TV "church." He was also a Milwaukee Brewers fan and Wisconsin Badgers fan.

He was proud of his family, a loving husband to Debbie and step-father to Jacob and Justin. He was a great brother to his siblings Larry and Mary and a great friend to many.

Barry is survived by his wife Debbie, Twin Lakes, his step-sons Jacob (Abby) Stohr, Genoa City and Justin (Jessica Braun) Stohr, Twin Lakes. His two grandsons, Jackson Stohr and Brady Stohr. Further survived by his brother Larry (Susan Davis) Oak Creek, his sister Mary Cedarburg WI and half sister Bonnie (Doug) Noyce of Stoughton WI.

He was preceded in death by his dad in 1992 and his mom in 1996.

There will be a Celebration of Barry's life from 1:00pm till 4:00pm on Sunday February 12th, 2017 at the Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
